Roku Channel Introduces Us to Heathers the Musical Movie Based on the Cult Classic 1988

The Roku Channel introduces us to Heathers the musical, a movie based on a hit theater production based on the cult classic 1988 film that cast Winona Ryder and Christian Slater and the movie dominated the decade. Of course, we’re fans of it.

This new thing you might be persuaded to stream is just a video reproduction of the stage version that was performed in front of a live West End crowd; it wasn’t a costly production since that would be absurd.

The plot is set in Westerberg High School, 1989. The protagonist, Veronica Sawyer (Alisa Davidson), narrates from her diary in form of a song, Martha Dunnstock (Mhairi Angus) her best friend.

The school is ruled by Heathers, Heather Chandler (Maddison Firth), the “mythic bitch” leader, and her flunkies, Heather Duke (Vivian Panka) and Heather McNamara (Teleri Hughes) as they peak the social hierarchy.

With matching thigh-highs and an ensemble in vivid color, Veronica weasels into their elite group. She quickly discovers, however, that being a part of the “lipgloss Gestapo” is not all it’s cracked up to be while treating everybody like shit.

Veronica meets J.D. (Simon Gordon), and they together play pranks being an asshole but Veronica is now tortured. Overall it’s an above-average movie that could be a one-time watch.
